GHMC dog Pounds, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India - Full Story
No stray dog can be killed according to order given by Supreme Court of India. They should be neutered through ABC (Animal Birth Control Program), vaccinated and released at the same area where they have been caught. These released operated dogs should have their ear clipped so that they can be recognized as neutered.

GHMC has five dog pounds in Hyderabad at Amberpet, Autonagar, Jeedimetla, Patancheru, Zumerath Bazar locations.
GHMC Dog Pound Scam
GHMC staff at the dog pounds is eating all the funds allocated to these animals. They steal the food meant for dogs and take it to home, sell the medicines to veterinary hospital, sell the dead bodies to leather factories.
Dozens of dogs are brought to the pounds and cages keep filling up. The GHMC builds up numbers that they are operating dogs and releasing them. But in stark reality they are eating up money that is needed to be spent for dogs and instead killing them.
Instead of operating dogs and releasing them, they keep some operated dogs to show any visitor that they are operating dogs and not killing them. These operated dogs are never released. The new incoming dogs end up killed. When some of the operated dogs die due to starvation or any disease, they are replaced with new dogs. And also some dogs are not operated and kept for weeks till they die a torturous death.
These Dog pounds breed infections like parvo, carona, distemper. Puppies have no chance of survival. Lots of healthy dogs are susceptible to these infections. Most of the dogs which are not killed and are definitely starved, loose their natural immunity and die because of these infections. They become so infected that sometimes they just urinate blood or go to complete blood stools.
Whelping dogs with puppies are kept in same cages with other dogs. These puppies either become food for other dogs or die of infections.
It is very rare that an operated dog gets released. These dogs are so much traumatized and sick. Sometimes they loose their natural ability to search for food and eat because of the extended stay at dog pounds.
Food or water is given in scarce to these dogs. Sometimes cages are filled up with 10 to 15 dogs. They are fed with a mixture of curd and rice in a small bowl, which maybe is sufficient for a single dog. The strong dog always eats up food after winning the fight with other dogs, over the right to eat the meal. In these fight most of the dogs are injured horribly. Sometimes these dogs are not even fed.
Most of the starved dogs die, which are sometimes are eaten by other hungry dogs.
Most of the cages don’t have water in the cages. Even if water is available, it is many days old and is often contaminated.
The operations are mostly done by inexperienced veterinary doctors who have no compassion at all. The dogs are operated with unhygienic, non-sterilized medical instruments. Sometimes household blades are used to operate dogs. These negligent doctors (murderers) forget to stitch the cuts after operations or don’t stitch properly. These dogs die horribly with blood loss through open surgery cuts or intestines coming out of body.
If any breed dogs are caught, they are kept separately so that they can be sold to breeders.
Dogs with skin diseases are definitely killed. They are not given any chance. Even if the disease is in beginning stage or very small, they are killed. GHMC has no right to kill dogs with skin problems.
Even there are incidents of dogs and puppies being put in gunny bags buried alive near Autonagar garbage dumpyard or Keesaragutta dump yard locations.
There is no statistics maintained of how many dogs are caught, how many are operating and how many are being released. They are openly breaking the law.
GHMC is says that it is operating dogs, vaccinating them and releasing them. But in sharp contrast it is carrying out mass culling of animals. The guilty are going scot-free.
Each and every dog has gone through physical, emotional and mental suffering.
Hundreds of dogs are missing everyday from Hyderabad City. Stray pigs which are caught are sold to Pork shops by the GHMC staff. Stray Cows are sold to slaughter houses.
No mercy is shown on any animal.
All the NGOs in Hyderabad as well as Animal Welfare Board of India(AWBI) have knowledge of these atrocities done by GHMC but they never raised their voice against the corrupt officials. Their ethics itself are corrupted. In fact AWBI went to the extent of commending the work by GHMC publicly. They have even honored the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) for the programs he has carried out. But in fact CVO is one the major culprits who had carried the culling of dogs clandestinely.
What you can do?
Send Letters to the GHMC commissioner at commissioner@ghmc.gov.in and Mayor of Greater Hyderabad at mayor@ghmc.gov.in demanding that the guilty CVO along with guilty GHMC staff of veteniary department be immediately punished.

Tell AWBI to stop the brutal killings and behave responsibly. And also if they are unable to implement anything to bring any change to the system because of their incapability, it is better for millions of animals and people that they resign.

AWBI have failed not at just one Hyderabad city but all over India.
And not just in case of illegal dog killings but also failed to save millions of other animals all over India. Illegal slaughter of millions of cows, religious sacrifices (illegal in India) of millions of animals, abuse of animals, poaching ...... the list goes on and on.
